10 Questionable Reasons Why Actors Turned Down Big Roles

5. Johnny Depp - Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Young-Johnny-Depp-johnny-depp-23328386-500-265 There's a pretty long list of high profile roles that Johnny Depp rejected during the 1980s and 1990s. Chief among them is the teen classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off, an irreverent hit that made Matthew Broderick a star. He also passed on the iconic role of Lestat in Interview With the Vampire (eventually played by Tom Cruise), and Brad Pitt's role in Legends of the Fall. Why was he against these roles? "I'm not a blockbuster boy," he said. Oh really? If 90s Johnny Depp could see himself now, he would cry his beautiful, soulful eyes out. Of course none of us can foresee the future, but it seems a bit rich for the guy who's about to start work on Pirates of the Caribbean 5 to be turning his nose up at high-profile roles like he's better than that.
