8. What Sets Them On A Collision Course?

With Warner Bros. recently announcing a slate of DC superhero movies through to 2020, it seems that Henry Cavill's rebooted Superman is being short-changed. After just one standalone feature, the Man of Steel now has to share his sequel with Ben Affleck's Batman, before likely seeing his screentime further reduced during the two-part Justice League team-up. With so much ground to cover in just one movie, how exactly do Batman and Superman end up coming to blows? Given that the Justice League movie is set to hit theaters in 2017, it's almost a given that the two iconic superheroes will resolve their differences by the time the credits roll. There have been no official story details released so far, but it seems safe to assume that the fallout from the destruction of Metropolis during Man of Steel's third act will have a huge impact on the story, with Bruce Wayne perhaps using his vast fortune to try and rebuild the city and encountering Superman in the process. Rumors have indicated that Affleck's version of Batman will have been cleaning up the streets for decades, cementing himself as an urban legend in the process, with Dawn of Justice's Caped Crusader described as 'tired, weary and seasoned.' With Superman possibly finding himself as public enemy number one, it seems likely that Batman will descend upon Metropolis in order to take down the Man of Steel himself, which would go a long way to explaining the armored Batsuit seen in the Comic-Con footage.
