10 Questions You Should Be Asking About Upcoming Movies

10. How Do The Twins Have Their Powers - Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Next summer will see The Avengers reassemble to take on artificial intelligence Ultron, but it's not going to just be the heroes who decimated/saved New York a few years ago teaming-up. Alongside Tony Stark, Bruce Banner and the rest of the gang we're going to be introduced to android Vision (who, being played by Paul Bettany, appears to be a physical embodiment of Stark's computer butler JARVIS) and the Maximoff twins, better known as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. The duo were teased in Captain America: The Winter Soldier's post-credit scene where we saw them in the clutches of a fragment of HYDRA, but that scene aside we know very little about them. A lot has been speculated about their role in the film and how they're likely to clash with the Avengers before becoming chums, but the most pressing should be how they got their powers (super speed and reality warping respectively). In the comics the pair are the children of Magneto, getting their powers from simple mutation. As Marvel don't have the rights to X-Men (or even the word mutant) a whole new backstory is needed. The Winter Soldier implied it's something to do with Loki's staff, but that's all we have so far. Marvel's always been quite keen to provide some Hollywood pseudo-science or sci-fi logic to back up their heroes, so expect some sort of semi-logical explanation.
