10 Questions You Should Be Asking About Upcoming Movies
9. How Will It End? - The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies
When we ask how The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies will end we don't mean on a narrative basis. To find that out all it takes is to flick through the pages of a seventy-seven year old book (or, you know, check Wikipedia). What we mean is how Peter Jackson will bring what is the final entry in both The Hobbit Trilogy and The Middle-Earth Saga as whole to a close. There's a lot to be dealt with. Aside from the narrative end of the plots from both J.R.R. Tolkien's source novel and those added in by Jackson himself, the film needs to tie into The Lord Of The Rings and provide fans with the ultimate sense of closure; we're unlikely to be returning to Middle-Earth on the big screen again. Will we see Gollum head into Mordor? Will Balin go to reclaim Moria (where he's found dead in Fellowship)? And will Ian Holm get to provide his unnecessary bookend to the trilogy? We know pretty much all the major plot beats of the film thanks to a lifetime of Tolkien, but how the movie will end is something we haven't a clue about. Although we bet there'll be enough endings to rival The Return Of The King.
