10 Quick Ways To Fix The DCEU
1. Stop Trying To Be Marvel
Lastly, and most importantly, we have to really think about the DCEU’s place among the many movie series that scatter the landscape. What is really unique about the DCEU, besides its iconic characters? Marvel has the home-grown small-town hero shtick, the X-Men had overpowered, superheroes fighting in huge, climatic battles, even the Deadpool series has the 4th-wall breaking comedy skits and witty one-liners.
The only way the DCEU can survive, is if it diversifies itself and stands out from the crowd. On the current path the DCEU is taking, its always just playing catch-up with Marvel. However, sadly, this is unsustainable.
By the time the DCEU catches up to what Marvel is doing, Marvel has already tried 3 different things and is in the midst of trying a 4th thing. If the DCEU keeps trying to be the family-friendly pop-culture referencing giant the MCU is, than it will fail; as it can not do that better than Marvel already can.
But, if the DCEU distances itself from the MCU formula, makes more believable plots, have better character development and stay true to the comics, than maybe it can stand on its own two legs and be its own thing.
