10 Quick Ways To Fix The DCEU
2. Relatable Characters Are Key
Let's be honest, there is no way to make Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman relatable in the traditional sense. One is a billionaire playboy, one is a warrior goddess and one is an alien capable of moving planets.
Instead, just like in the comics, they should not make characters weaker to make them more relatable. Rather, they should focus on their humanity and their non-physical struggles. While this may not be the answer to any and all problems, it definitely would make the DCEU at the very least, more relatable to the average viewer.
It is good when heroes act based on emotional state or physical threats rather than merely acting because the plot needs them to. One way, for example, to make Wonder Woman more relatable is to have one of her love-interests be on their death-bed because of an incurable disease. Sure, it's not a physical threat to her, but would make her feel emotions that the audience can relate to.
If the DCEU could give its characters more relatability through their own emotional vulnerability, or lack of control over their environment, then it would benefit the DCEU enormously.
