10 Quick Ways To Fix The DCEU

4. Develop Complex Villains

DC has a huge number of great villains they could bring into the DCEU from Brainiac and Darkseid to anti-heroes like Catwoman or Deathstroke. Unfortunately, the DCEU has yet to capitalize on this distinct advantage.

If the DCEU had one amazing, recurring villain like Thanos or Loki, then it would immediately benefit everything else.

Take, for example, the now legendary Thano’s portrayal in Infinity War. Sure, if you really break-it down, his motivation makes no sense and his plan should have failed from the get-got. However, it is not “Who do we need to challenge the heroes.” rather it's “Who do we need to stop the villain.”

Thanos is a 3-dimensional villain, he does not act based on his own selfish desires, nor, based on some mustache-twirling plot to dominate the world. Rather, if you really break it down, we simply have a man who does what he thinks is just.

Sure, his methods might be questionable and so is his motive. However, a good villain is one where you can flip the script and believe them to be the hero. If any one of the DCEU’s villains where as calculated and relatable as Thanos, than it would benefit the DCEU enormously.
