Veteran character actor Héctor Elizondo is perhaps best known for appearing in the TV shows Chicago Hope and Last Man Standing, as well as his long-standing movie collaborations with late filmmaker Garry Marshall.

Between the years of 1982 and 2016, Elizondo appeared in all 18 of Marshall's theatrically released movies, and while this might simply seem like an endearing partnership between two beloved artists and best friends, it was actually a contractual stipulation.

In an amusing twist, though, the clause wasn't in Elizondo's contract but Marshall's, who had it written into each of his directing contracts that he could cast Elizondo in a role.

On an added note of poignance, Elizondo later added that he only found out about the contractual clause after Marshall's death in 2016, because the director never actually told him. How sweet.
