Samuel L. Jackson may insist that he be allowed to go play sports during a film shoot, but throughout his acting career Jack Nicholson simply wanted to be able to watch sports in peace. In person, admittedly.

The legendary actor has owned courtside season tickets for the LA Lakers at the Staples Center ever since the 1970s and rarely misses a game even today. As such, he had it written into his contracts that movie shoots be scheduled around the Lakers' games.

Though this was often relatively practical considering that many of Nicholson's films were shot in and around Los Angeles anyway, for 1987's drama Ironweed scheduling was extra tricky as it was filmed on-location in New York City during the height of the 1986-1987 NBA season.

Considering the Lakers went on to win the season, Nicholson was smart to leverage his fame and value to get what he wanted. Those season ticket seats must cost a pretty penny, after all.
