10 Real Reactions To Behind-The-Scenes Movie Screw-Ups

3. Tom Cruise Breaks His Ankle - Mission Impossible Fallout

Speaking of non-human beings on the big screen, here we have Hollywood's resident stunt machine Tom Cruise powering through a seriously intense injury whilst filming the most recent Mission: Impossible entry.

During a chase in Fallout (2018), Ethan Hunt is seen sprinting across London's rooftops in pursuit of Henry Cavill's August Walker. As usual, Cruise doesn't shy away from the action here and jumps head-first into everything, from sprinting across glass ceilings to hopping from building-to-building.

However, it was in that latter stunt where Cruise found himself in a bit of a sticky situation.

As Ethan throws himself off some scaffolding onto another rooftop, Cruise managed to do some legitimate damage to his right ankle. In fact, the actor broke it completely. However, instead of calling for the scene to be cut short, Cruise hoisted himself up and limped out of shot before crumbling to the ground in agony.

The gruesome injury is there for all to see in the finished film, with Cruise using the genuinely excruciating moment to sell Hunt's authentic fatigue in the chase.

You could even say, Cruise really put his foot in it this time...I'll show myself out.
