10 (Realistic) Directors Who Should Direct A Star Wars Spin-Off Film

The director of the heartbreaking critical darling, Fruitvale Station, and the surprise hit Rocky reboot, Creed, is currently one of the most exciting young directors in the world, and should his upward trajectory continue there's no reason to rule him out of taking control of a future Star Wars anthology film. Ryan Coogler has all the makings to go on to become one of the biggest directors in the world, and he clearly has the ambitions to match his skills.

However, this will undoubtedly rely on the success of Black Panther, due to be released in 2017, another Disney property courtesy of Marvel (starting to sense a pattern here?).

Fruitvale Station was made for less than $1 million, and although Creed had a much higher budget than that true-life story it's still a lot lower than either Black Panther or any potential future Star Wars film will be, so it still remains to be seen whether Coogler can juggle a massive budget as well as otherworldly expectations from both fans and critics.

Here's hoping that Black Panther is a big hit though, regardless as to whether Coogler has a future in the Star Wars universe because he is a talent that should be nurtured. But if Coogler explores familiar or new planets in that far away galaxy there's an equally large chance that he would bring common collaborator Michael B. Jordan along for the ride too.

And who wouldn't want to see B. Jordan, one of the brightest young actors in the US right now, wielding a lightsaber?
