10 Really Annoying Moments In Captain America: The Winter Soldier

2. Unresolved Plot Handily Left For Sequel

Bucky€™s slow realisation of who Steve Rogers is to him, culminating in him saving his €˜mission€™ from the helicarrier crash is one of the film€™s highlights. Forget Tony Stark miss-calling Pepper before going through the worm-hole or the death of Thor€™s mother; this is the MCU€™s most emotionally loaded scene. Unfortunately it comes at a price. The Winter Soldier had to end halfway through the story; we leave Steve Rogers (and new pal Sam Wilson) just setting out to try and save Bucky. The film€™s second post-credit scene, which has Bucky in the Captain America exhibit beginning to remember who he used to be, only serves to highlight this. Shouldn't what's being set up be part of this film? It€™s a proper double-edged sword: despite the title the Winter Soldier wasn€™t the main narrative drive of the film and thus for sufficient time to be given the the S.H.I.E.L.D. plot, Bucky€™s journey had to either be watered or slowed down. The latter was chosen, which is frustrating, although in the long run (Captain America 3 is confirmed) this should get a little less aggravating.
