10 Reasons Baby Driver Could Be The Surprise Movie Of The Summer

8. It’s R-Rated

In terms of car chase movies, Baby Driver’s main competitor this year has got to be Fast & Furious 8. But whereas that’s a relatively family-friendly PG-13, this won’t bar as many holds. Wright insisted to his distributors that they allow him to make an R-rated movie, and the final production indeed has that restricted rating over in the States and a 15 here in the U.K.

Why is that important? Well, it’s going for a rough crime movie feel, with Baby getting mixed up with some seriously violently characters, so it would be quite the disappointment if the film wussed out on showing us what these guys are capable of. It’ll be full of gritty and visceral action, with a feel of intense danger and collateral damage.

It should please Mad Max: Fury Road fans, then. Plus, the higher rating means there’ll be a lot less kids shuffling around in their seats and shining the glaring screens of their phones into your eyes. A better cinematic experience all round.
