7. Ansel Elgort
Yep, that soppy dying kid from The Fault in our Stars. The teen romance may be very different in tone from this gritty crime thriller, but it allowed its two leads, Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, to prove themselves very capable actors.
Elgort has since been building on that career kickstart, most notably with two of the Divergent movies, in which he showed he can take on action roles, too. He’s also a musician and DJ with the stage name ‘Ansolo’, which makes him a perfect fit for Baby Driver’s musical edge.
The role of Baby requires someone with range - the eponymous getaway driver is a tough kid who's gone through a lot and come out of it kind of arrogant, but ultimately has to win us over. Think Ryan Gosling in Drive but less mopey and more mouthy.
Thankfully, Ansel Elgort is a rising star with real Hollywood swagger, able to pull off the role with aplomb. Importantly, he looks damn cool in those shades, chilling behind the wheel of his Subaru. This Baby could really be going places, and if he is indeed the next Gosling, you don't want to miss the film that makes his name.
