10 Reasons Batman: Assault On Arkham Destroys Suicide Squad
3. The Group Dynamic Is More Convincing
Despite running less than 2/3 of Suicide Squad's 130 minutes, Assault On Arkham has a much firmer handle on the central group dynamic, whereas the live-action movie struggles to give the likes of Katana and Killer Croc their fair shake, sidelining them as also-rans and quip-machines respectively. It also contrives the notion that the team are a "family", which never really holds water.
Assault On Arkham has basically the same number of central characters to deal with, and aside from arguably Black Spider (who nevertheless serves an important function in the plot when Batman disguises himself as him), they all get a few big moments to shine each.
You can look at each character and remember something cool they did as opposed to the exposition and flashback-reliant character work in Suicide Squad, their banter is terrific, and seeing them work together is much more gratifying than the stilted action in the live-action equivalent. Plus, no forced, sentimental bonding nonsense!
