10 Reasons Batman Forever Is Better Than Any Other Batman Movie
1. Robin
Being the first movie to introduce Robin to the mainstream movie-goer was always going to be a bit of a sticky-wicket, Burton's producers shelving the idea of a young Marlon Wayans playing the role of a young mechanic turned sidekick after doing some work on the Batmobile (see how much worse it could of been).
The first criticism is always the age Chris O' Donnell was when he took on the role of The Boy Wonder. At 25 casual fans and avid comic book readers both find it hard to roll with the idea that this was the faithful chum to the Caped Crusader that anybody wanted.
Examining the first on screen incarnation however, youthful looking Burt Ward was 19 when first beginning his journey as Robin, a mere six years difference from O' Donnell.
Sure, they could of reworked the plot a bit to incorporate Robin as Teen Wonder (a title he took in the comics before stepping up into his Nightwing Persona) but even keeping the origin kind of accurate, it was a lot more believable to think an older Dick was a lot more capable athletically by applying his trade a little longer with The Flying Graysons.
In Batman Forever, O' Donnell came across as a strong willed match for Kilmer, more than capable of holding his own if he ever flew solo (an idea that was toyed with) and convincingly portraying a rage-fuelled teen in need of guidance.
Plus his costume ruled. Best Bat-related costume ever.
