10 Reasons Bob Orci Directing Star Trek 3 Is The Dumbest Decision Ever

1. More Of The Same

Taking in all the reasons why Bob Orci shouldn€™t be directing Star Trek 3, the biggest one is that his appointment to the top job signals that the film will be more of the same. More overuse of action, more glaring plot holes, more bad attempts at comedy, more unfocused storytelling and more stupid plot devices like Khan€™s magic blood that moonlights as a cure for death. Even with the introduction of two new fresh writers, Patrick McKay and John D. Payne, Bob Orci is still the head of the writing team and now as director, he has even more power to push through his idea of what makes a good film. After the mess that was €˜Star Trek Into Darkness,€™ the third reboot movie had to have drastic changes behind to scenes so the same mistakes are not repeated. But with Bob Orci getting the directing gig despite all his previous mistakes, it gives him the green light that he doesn€™t need to change anything. His reaction to criticism towards €˜Into Darkness€™ is more than an indicator of how out of touch he is from where the franchise needs to be and how resistant he is to learning from his mistakes. A $150 Million dollar movie is the wrong vehicle for Bob Orci to cut his directing teeth on, especially one as important as Star Trek 3. But the decision has been made so expect Bob Orci€™s Star Trek to be closely examined and debated for many years to come.
