10 Reasons Bob Orci Directing Star Trek 3 Is The Dumbest Decision Ever

6. He Has Zero Experience

Star Trek€™s 50th Anniversary is going to be one of the biggest events Paramount and CBS has to organise and get right in 2016. The BBC showed how to do it with the 50th birthday of Dr Who and the pressure is on Paramount to make sure Star Trek gets the same treatment. With the next Star Trek movie being the only new Trek on the foreseeable horizon, you would have expected a director with some experience to have been hired to make sure Star Trek 3 stands the best chance of being a success. But no, Bob Orci who hasn€™t directed anything before has been given the reigns of what will be one of Paramount€™s biggest releases in 2016. Even though he will nurse-maided through any difficulties by JJ Abrams, Paramount is taking a big gamble with Orci. If the movie fails critically, it will be Orci€™s fault but the silver lining in that is that it might prompt Paramount and CBS to put the franchise in the hands of a better team than the people at Bad Robot. According to Devin Faraci over at Badass Digest, Bob Orci engineered and manipulated the situation to make sure he was directing:
€˜€™I've already told you what I heard, that Orci cock-blocked every director who came in for meetings on the project, making it look like anyone who helmed would be his dancing monkey. Who wants that when you already have pressure from the fans and the studio? Orci made a power move to guarantee his ass in the director's chair despite a huge lack of experience.€™€™
