10 Reasons Captain America: Civil War Beat Batman v Superman

4. Supporting Characters Have Good Reasons For Supporting Their Side

By the end of Civil War, you can easily provide reasons for why every single character makes the decision they do. We know why Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, and Ant-Man all side with Captain America and Bucky. It's made very clear why Black Widow, Vision, War Machine, Black Panther, and Spider-Man side with Iron Man.

While you would expect Falcon to join Cap and War Machine to join Iron Man, the Russos never take this for granted. Instead, they provide very valid reasons why both Sam and Rhodey pick their sides. It has less to do with the leader of their faction and more to do with the central conflict. In fact, one of the best scenes in Civil War is a discussion between Sam and Rhodey about their views.

Batman and Superman are the only superheroes who have to choose sides (by the time Wonder Woman arrives, they've stopped fighting each other). But there are still supporting characters in the movie and they need reasons for supporting their hero. Lois is on Superman's side because... well, because he's Superman and she's Lois Lane. Alfred is on Batman's side because he's Batman and Alfred is his loyal butler.

But within the context of the movie? Lois is clearly disturbed by Superman's actions in Nairomi but then she just forgets all about that. Alfred somewhat critical of Batman's path but just shrugs when he goes off to kill Superman. Their concerns aren't even brushed off, just ignored.
