10 Reasons DCEU Movies Will Never Catch Up To The MCU
8. They Failed To Make A Shared Universe Work
Say what you will about films like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, but they were meant to kickstart a true shared universe for Warner Bros. Batman appeared in the latter, and director David Ayer has revealed that there were once plans for Enchantress to work with Justice League baddie Steppenwolf before the studio vetoed it.
The second Justice League failed to resonate, Warner Bros. completely pulled the plug on the idea of a true DCEU, ignoring the fact that movie failed not because it was too hard to follow these characters together, but due to studio mandated changes which transformed it into a complete and utter mess.
Aquaman barely referenced what Arthur Curry had been through just a year earlier, while Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey vaguely addressed the events of Suicide Squad, but failed to do anything to set the stage for James Gunn's sequel, The Suicide Squad. By being unable to make this work, the moment for crossover events like Avengers: Endgame has passed, giving the MCU a major advantage.
