10 Reasons Fast & Furious 9 Is A Cinematic Car Wreck

6. The Characters Spend Too Much Time Apart

One of the things that makes the Fast and Furious films work is that they have a very compelling, charismatic group of characters who really care about each other and view each other as a family, giving the films a warm and comforting vibe.

The actors all have incredible chemistry together and as it should go without saying, splitting them up is not the right way to go. Unfortunately, that's exactly what this movie does.

The characters spend much of the film in different groups and even when they are together, much of the cast chemistry is absent thanks to the decidedly inadequate script.

The weak script also ensures that most of the characters - even the normally hilarious Roman (Tyrese Gibson) - aren't as fun as normal. Meanwhile, Mia Toretto's return is pretty disappointing since it doesn't feel like there's any real reason for her to even be there.

The two characters who come out of this movie best are Han, who's just as good as he's always been, and Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel), who continues to get better and better despite a slightly shaky start in Furious 7.
