10 Reasons Guardians Of The Galaxy Is Better Than The Avengers

6. A More Threatening Villain

One thing that the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies have lacked up until Guardians of the Galaxy is a villain who truly feels like a threat to the hero he/she is facing. With Ronan, that problem has been rectified. The closest thing we've seen to a genuine threat to a hero is Kurse - and you can't help but think that Thor made a meal of him by trying to go blow for blow with him when he should have used his lightning from range - but every other villain has been equal to or inferior to their opposing hero. Abomination, Red Skull, the Winter Soldier and the armoured Iron Man villains were all equal to their heroic counterparts, while the likes of Loki, Aldrich Killian and Malekith all felt as though they should have been dispatched with ease by the good guys, so to see Ronan as someone considerably more powerful than each member of the Guardians of the Galaxy was great. He was physically stronger than them all, more durable than them all, could fire energy blasts, wielded a cool-looking and powerful weapon and was able to hold and harness the powers of the Orb - all of which made him a formidable foe. Plus, he was ruthless and truly ambitious - not only did he snap the Other's neck with his warhammer, he also dared to take on Thanos. Now, if Marvel can keep this kind of threat level up in future movies, all will be well in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
