It's been widely reported that WWE's Dave Bautista was not the original choice for Drax the Destroyer, but rather it was Jason Momoa, better known for playing Dothraki Khal Drogo on HBO's Game of Thrones. Momoa would certainly have been an excellent choice, though apparently did not want to spend hours in a makeup chair every day, so instead Marvel opted for their second pick, Bautista. Now, I won't deny that I'm prejudiced against the choice based on two factors: 1) wrestlers rarely make good actors, and 2) I'm not a fan of Batista, but he is definitely a wild card pick in terms of the rest of the cast. We know that Chris Pratt is going to pour himself into the role, we know that actors like Djimon Hounsou, del Toro, Saldana and Glenn Close (who we didn't see in the trailer) are going to give it their all, whereas Batista' experience in movies of this kind is extremely limited. Yes, his WWE experience will help him have the necessary screen presence, though if he can't deliver lines convincingly, then it's all going to be for naught. Perhaps the smart idea would be to keep his dialogues to a minimum? Still, if he passed the screen test, one must have faith.
