10 Reasons Jurassic World Is The Best Sequel In The Franchise
9. New Dinosaurs That Serve A Purpose
The Jurassic Park sequels have never managed to convincingly introduce a new roster of dinosaurs into the franchise. The Lost World could have been onto something with Pachycephalosaurus but didn't really give that dinosaur a major scene with which to work with. The Compys were diverting enough but just too small to be considered major players. And the less said about the Spinosaurus from Jurassic Park III the better. This time though the filmmakers got it right. The Indominus Rex is an amazing creature and provides some great set-piece moments, including a more fulfilling confrontation with the T-Rex towards the end of the movie. It was nice to see the film utilise some new herbivores too, with the Apatosaurus scene one of the most tender in the entire movie, and the Ankylosaurs providing a bit of stern resistance to the I-Rex before inevitably getting worn down. Perhaps the biggest hit was the Mosasaur. It was certainly responsible for some of the movie's biggest 'wow' moments. Overall, each new dinosaur was a success.
