10 Reasons Jurassic World Is The Best Sequel In The Franchise

7. Fun Secondary Characters

If you cast your mind back to Jurassic Park you'll recall a whole list of genuinely interesting side characters that were convincingly human: Nedry the nerdy slob with bad intentions, Arnold the chain-smoking engineer, Donald the pain in the ass lawyer. All funny characters that were brought to life, and who we still recall today. The sequels up to now had been a disappointment in this regard. Vince Vaughan's character in The Lost World bypassed the child-like wonder of the first film, while the divorcees of the third feature spent a film about dinosaurs trying to pinpoint when their relationship went sour. Not this time though. Irrfan Khan plays a gloriously eccentric billionaire who reaches a sticky end too soon, and the geeky Lowery is a nice antithesis to Nedry. Even Vic Hoskins, head of security, toes the line well between full-blown baddie and figure of fun with his too-small trousers and frequent swapping between sharing war stories and cowering in a corner.
