10 Reasons Jurassic World Is The Best Sequel In The Franchise

5. Bryce Dallas Howard

When a few excerpts of the film were first shown to the public, alarms bells rang in some quarters. The first scene between Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard was initially pigeon-holed as sexist by Avengers director Josh Whedon. He effectively said the relationship between Pratt and Howard showed a fully fleshed out man who was confident in his own skin and an inhibited female with a host of neuroses and repressions on display. This only told half the story though, since Howard's character is just starting out on her journey at that point. While she begins the film as a bit of a sap with work-life balance issues, she gradually blossoms into the film's heroine. Importantly, she can hold her own with the main characters, and, by the end of the film, she's grown into someone almost totally unrecognisable. She's certainly a step in the right direction from the bumbling Sarah Harding or the unlikeable Amanda Kirby of the sequels. They offered nothing other than occasionally landing the rest of the characters in more strife, and that's not really the case here.
