5. Terrible Editing
One of the most frustrating things about Kick-Ass 2 is the tawdry quality of the film's editing. If Matthew Vaughn gave his editors enough coverage to make smart decisions, Wadlow clearly hasn't, because most of the action scenes are scarcely comprehensible messes, with Wadlow's shaky camerawork only further affecting the choppy shot selection. It's reminiscent of those terrible Steven Seagal movies that cut constantly during fight scenes to try and disguise the fact that a) Seagal can't fight anymore and b) they can't afford a stuntman, but come off as horribly amateur as a result. The majority of Kick-Ass 2's action scenes play out like a director who is very much out of their depth, and after the rather simplistic thrills of Never Back Down - which focused largely on MMA - that probably shouldn't be too surprising.
