4. Unconvincing Toilet Humour
If there's one thing I didn't expect too much of in Kick-Ass 2, it was toilet humour. Given the veritable comic goldmine that cast and crew were sitting on, was there really the need to resort to such base tactics, especially given the satirical framework laid by the first film? There's a scene in Kick-Ass 2 that really just feels like it belongs in another movie, when Mindy is eating dinner at school and is accosted by three girls she had previously been hanging around with before they kicked her to the curb. Mindy pulls out a device that emits a frequency at the victim that causes them to void their bowels in either direction. She makes two of the girls projectile vomit at one another, and then the third, the ringleader of the group, vomits
and defecates all over the floor. The scene is made more ridiculous by the fact that it doesn't even look like real feces; it's very clearly a cup of hot chocolate or something that's been poured against a green screen and composited into the scene. It looks cheap, and moreover, it's not very funny or shocking.
