10 Reasons Kong: Skull Island Might Be 2017's Most Surprising Success

5. Kong Isn't The Only Amazing Creature

One of the defining features of the old Kaiju films - a Japanese genre featuring threatening creatures and monsters - was the inclusion of multiple beasts fighting it out for supremacy. Which makes it totally exciting that the latter half of the Kong: Skull Island trailer is reserved for introducing a bunch of other indigenous creatures.

Seriously, some of the beasts on display look just as awesome as Kong. There are enormous lizards, some sort of watery, mossy ram and a giant tree...thing. The fact that they're difficult to explain just exemplifies how inventive they are, and shows how Kong isn't being treated as the singular spectacle.

Rather, inventiveness oozes out the film's every pore. And seeing Kong inevitably take on some of these other creatures is going to be incredible.
