3. He Allowed Himself To Be Thanos' Flunky
Marvel StudiosWhat kind of "lead villain" allows himself to, essentially, become someone's bitch? Although we haven't yet seen Thanos' in action in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we can assume he's extremely powerful and Loki probably has every right to be afraid of him - but a real villain doesn't let himself get bossed around by anyone. Loki will claim that he was given a powerful item and the promise of ruling a small fraction (Earth) of the universe that Thanos wanted to conquer - and that was good enough a reason to do as Thanos said - but the fact is that it was at the expense of being at the Mad Titan's beck and call. Get some dignity, man.
