What Marvel have done with the MCU is nothing short of genius. The creation of their shared universe not only works brilliantly but has been industry changing with shared universes sprouting all over the place, for better or worse. Do we really need a Transformers universe? Or Universal monsters?

The major drawback to having so many branches on the MCU tree is that it is destined to become confused, hell it already is in parts. For the sake of both small and big screen leaving them separate and allowing the Netflix output to stand alone is the best option.

Confusion is not only an ever-growing problem with the MCU though. With the expanding Netflix series' the same issue is bound to arise on TV as well. If they combine all of them together before you know it you'll have to break out the yarn and make a spider diagram on your wall just to keep up.

It will happen eventually, but keeping the two separate is the logical way to keep the confusion at bay, besides...
