10 Reasons Prometheus 2 Should Be Scrapped For Alien 5
4. Noomi Rapace Is No Sigourney Weaver
Easily the most crucial performance in Prometheus is that of Noomi Rapace, who plays protagonist Elizabeth Shaw and is essentially, whether she likes it or not, filling the shoes of Sigourney Weaver's Ripley. Though she did an admirable job in the uncomfortable "abortion" scene, her performance overall just lacks the confidence and gravitas of Weaver's steely turn, and during moments of distress, her Swedish accent is hilariously noticeable. It certainly didn't help that the script made Rapace spout some pretty creaky dialogue and didn't make her character anywhere near as likeable or bada** as Ripley, but the result is that we're just not that interested in seeing Shaw's continuing adventures. In fact, we'd rather Michael Fassbender's David just took over as the protagonist, because what he lacks in humanity he more than compensates for with his child-like curiosity and, well, his gorgeous hair.
