10 Reasons Shazam Needs To Be In Justice League 2

3. The Rock Of Eternity Is A Gateway

Near the end of Shazam!, Billy and his friends must flee Doctor Sivana through random tunnels in the Rock of Eternity without knowing the way out. This leads them to discover that the Rock is far more than a few thrones and some evil statues.

The teleportation powers granted by the Rock of Eternity are demonstrated by the initial tests to see who will receive the powers of Shazam, but a cave full of mysterious doors reveals another means by which the Rock can facilitate instant travel. Upon first opening one of these doors, the Shazam Family is shocked to see a group of card-playing lizard people staring back at them. Another door reveals a strange, sentient plant.

While primarily used as a gag, these doors could actually become an important plot point in future DCEU films. The Rock of Eternity does not belong to our dimension alone. The DCEU could choose to redefine these doors as gateways to other planets if so desired, but a more faithful adaptation of the source material would have them acting as portals to entirely new realms.

This would most likely pay off in a Shazam! sequel, especially considering Mister Mind's dialogue during the mid-credits scene. However, using the Rock of Eternity as an interdimensional gateway could prove useful in a Justice League sequel as well, especially if such a sequel were to use Darkseid as the main villain.

Should the League decide to bring the fight to Darkseid's home world of Apokolips, the DCEU's Rock of Eternity would potentially allow them access without the use of the inter-dimensional boom tubes used by Steppenwolf in the first film.
