10 Reasons Shazam Needs To Be In Justice League 2

4. Billy Can Help Unite The Team

The first Justice League film had trouble portraying the League as a truly cohesive unit. They didn't quite fit together, and their revival of Superman was essentially meant to become their beacon of hope. While they begin flexing their teamwork muscles a bit before Superman's arrival at the final battle, it feels less like the result of natural character progression and more like a mere story beat that the screenwriters knew they had to incorporate before the movie ended.

As a result of this forced character evolution, the film never quite earns the illusion of the Justice League as a truly united front. The film instead closes on a team that still feels relatively distant from one another. A sequel would have two options regarding the best way to handle this. The filmmakers could either ignore the problem and pretend that the League is now a solid front, or they could provide a better resolution for the issue on-screen.

In the latter case, the Justice League sequel could find its solution in the form of Billy Batson. As a result of his character progression in Shazam!, Billy has real experience learning to understand those he initially dislikes. He initially judges the other foster kids in his group home, but by the end of the film is able to consider them his real family.

Despite having as many parental issues as any other member of the Justice League, Billy's taken one of the most unique approaches to solving it. The League shown on film thus far could stand to learn a lesson or two from this young man if they ever hope to form a more lasting bond.
