10 Reasons Star Wars Sequels Are Still Superior To The Prequels
2. The Sequels Are Far Better Written
In regards to writing, it would be fair to say that the Prequels tell a more complex and interesting story than the Sequels and it'd be inarguable to say that the Prequels feel more connected as a trilogy, but overall the Sequels still come out on top.
George Lucas is a man of many talents but writing dialogue is not among them, and he's been endearingly honest about this over the years; most of the dialogue in the Prequels is simply terrible.
In stark contrast, the dialogue in the Sequels is genuinely excellent, and in fact that was arguably the best Star Wars trilogy in terms of dialogue (the Original Trilogy does have some clunky lines, let's face it).
Furthermore, despite the widely documented changes in direction throughout the trilogy and the many plot holes, the Sequels are far better-written than they've given credit for.
The emotional beats of the Sequels really work for the most part, the characters feel like people instead of plot devices and although the character arcs often seemed to change with each film, the characters generally developed well within each individual instalment.
In contrast, despite their fascinating story the Prequels are a bit too emotionally distant for their own good and the only character who's given any sort of arc is Anakin - and that arc didn't really work in the end.
