10 Reasons To Be Excited For Marvel Phase Three
5. Competition Means A Better Product
Never has there been a better time for comic fans in cinema.
There’s no denying DC have panicked a bit and rushed into their universe without a real plan and despite their difficulties gauging fan demand – the latest being their rather plain Suicide Squad costumes, Ben Affleck stepping onto the big screen as Bruce Wayne is still going to be a huge hit, no matter how good the film is.
Marvel know this and for the first time in their cinematic universe (Dark Knight Trilogy aside) they actually have some competition and they have already reacted very positively from refusing to lose a game of chicken over a 6th May release date to continuing to push on with their original plan with confidence. Marvel will not risk losing a battle with DC and forfeiting millions of dollars and if anything, they’ll be pushed to deliver even better products to keep the thickle fan in line.
Competition can only benefit fans and after all, Marvel may not have been pushed into giving Captain Marvel her solo film if DC hadn’t eventually given Wonder Woman a shot. There is, however, a big risk that the market will become oversaturated (2016 will have 7 films, while 2017 has an eye-watering 9), but since Marvel has a much stronger track record, it’s most likely that DC will suffer those consequences.
