10 Reasons We've Already Given Up On The Amazing Spider-Man 2

9. Where Does Chris Cooper€™s Norman Osborn Fit In?

Chris Cooper, who is no stranger to playing the bad guy in movies, is an excellent choice to portray Norman Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 €“ if the film gives the character the gravitas he deserves. While Sony Pictures could be keeping things close to vest here with Norman, outside of one scene in the trailer that shows a rather feeble looking Osborn speaking to his son Harry (portrayed by Dane DeHaan), there€™s no sense that the arch-foe of Spider-Man (in the comic book universe) is anything but a tertiary character in this film. Plot-wise, Osborn is assumedly pulling the strings to conquer Peter/Spider-Man behind the scenes, acting as a criminal mastermind who doesn€™t get his hands dirty. But, when most comic book readers think of Norman, they think about his time soaring through the skies and killing innocent blondes as the Green Goblin. With DeHaan already confirmed as playing the Goblin, keeping a top-notch actor like Cooper on the sidelines is a missed opportunity for Sony. Cooper would have brought some range and nuance to one of the comic book world€™s most exciting and unpredictable villains.
