10 Reasons Why Jaws: The Revenge Is The Worst Film Of All Time

1. It Is A Sequel To Jaws

rsz_jaws Perhaps the greatest reason to hate a film is how it follows and nearly destroys one far greater than itself. Jaws is an iconic film of the 70s, representing everything that made it such a great decade for film. The blockbuster was beginning to take a new shape, horror was being evolved to something new and Spielberg was hitting the scene brand new. His mainstream breakthrough made $470 million at the worldwide box office, setting the record at the time, and won Academy Awards for Sound, Editing and the thunderous Original Score. Spielberg became one of America's youngest Millionaires in the wake of 'Jawsmania' sweeping the world, and its lasting effects are still known today. Who doesn't at least know of the sinister theme song? Or the iconic poster art? Or even the unscripted line "You're gonna need a bigger boat."? So its a decent testament to the first film that hardly anyone even knows there is a fourth. It has kept to itself in spite of what it hoped to achieve, crawling, defeated, back to the depths. Spielberg truly created a legend, and not even two dreadful sequels could tarnish it. Hell, The Revenge surely doesn't deserve the name Jaws, hence why I have refrained from using it for the most part, but at least it is actually so deeply bad, it can't even tarnish the name properly. So maybe my words to that critic all those years ago would be this: Don't bother reviewing the next one: its worse, but nobody will remember it for that.
