6. The Shark Follows Ellen To The Bahamas?
Not only are the implications of a shark travelling over 2000 miles from a New York island to the Bahamas in a matter of days physically impossible, but, aside from the obvious telekinetic link the duo share, what is its motivation for stalking Ellen Brody? Did it fancy a holiday but was unsure of where to go? Or was it not fond of the track record of sharks in the local area? This may be like telling a teenager not to eat the glue and glitter, but an ordinary adult couldn't work it out for himself so I guess it still has to be said: sharks do no go on vendettas against particular families. They kill and eat, and sometimes they get a bit attached - that's the limit of the science of sharks. That being said raises yet another point: throughout the film Ellen is traumatized by the shark that she says killed most of her family. Not only did Martin Brody kill the sharks of the first and second films, rendering them pretty much incapable of stalking her, but he died of a heart attack. So far Sean is the only member of the family to have been truly, properly killed by a shark at all, and it stays that way for a very long time.
