10 Reasons Why Mad Max: Fury Road Beats Furious 7

10. A Lean, Streamlined Plot To Drive The Action

First things first - nobody in their right mind goes to see an action movie expecting to be caught up in an intricate or convoluted plot. In fact, often that's the last thing anyone wants, and they sit their impatiently while characters deliver boring and often unnecessary exposition waiting for the next explosion. While Furious 7 certainly didn't overload the viewer with pointless plot points and tiresome exposition, it was clear that each narrative turn was often shoehorned in simply to set up the next action sequence. "We're going to Abu Dhabi!" to paraphrase one of the characters, for little other reason than the fact that the next big action scene required cool-looking skyscrapers and expensive cars (and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol got first dibs on the more impressive cityscapes of Dubai). Mad Max: Fury Road dispenses with this stereotypical geographical globetrotting and unwieldy plotting, focusing on a barebones story of a group of people being chased from A to B and back again. It's refreshing in its simplicity and all the more effective for it.
