10 Reasons Why Skyfall Could Be One Of The Greatest Bond Films Ever Made

8. The Thingy of Whatsit

After the resounding success of Casino Royale everyone was majorly excited for what was next in line for the Bond series. Things would immediately become a little concerning after the announcement that Bond€™s 22nd adventure would be titled Quantum of Solace, an odd title to say the least. The news that German director Marc Forster €“ known for acclaimed dramas including Monsters Ball and Stranger Than Fiction €“ had signed on only further led to the strange route the film seemed to be taking. After much hype and some promising early trailers, Quantum of Solace was released to a mixed critical reception. Despite being the shortest Bond film ever made at 118 minutes, Quantum of Solace lumbers along with a confused plot and an emphasis on dull, poorly edited action sequences. With the disappointment of Quantum still palatable, you€™d expect the cast and crew to up the ante considerably and deliver a Bond film to rank alongside some of the finest. Why do we fall? So we can learn how to pick ourselves up again.
"On 'Quantum', we were fucked. We had the bare bones of a script and then there was a writers€™ strike and there was nothing we could do. We couldn€™t employ a writer to finish it. I say to myself, €œNever again€, but who knows? There was me trying to rewrite scenes €“ and a writer I am not." - Daniel Craig €œIt was just like a commercial of the action. There didn't seem to be any geography and you were wondering what the hell was going on€ - Roger Moore
