Avengers: Age Of Ultron delivers exactly what you’d expect from Marvel, but whether or not that’s a good thing depends upon your point of view.
There isn’t very much here that hasn’t already been mined in previous films. There’s a robot army, the expected bickering between the main characters, plus a love interest is introduced to “humanise” one of the Avengers. Friends become enemies and enemies become friends, with one character making a Heroic Sacrifice at a key moment.
It builds to an overly familiar city-destroying final confrontation, which is the franchise’s problem in a nutshell: if you’ve saved the earth once already, the repetition has a numbing effect.
