10 Reasons You're Wrong About Avatar

6. It Doesn't Lack Cultural Impact

Almost a decade since Avatar's release, it's frequently stated that despite its astronomical box office success, the film lacks cultural impact and quickly evaporated from the collective consciousness.

While Avatar may not have the penetration of, say, Star Wars or Marvel, it's important to remember that Avatar is just a single movie, and honestly, how many original IPs have been as fervently discussed as it has?

Moreover, it successfully spearheaded the "3D revolution" in cinemas - short-lived though it was - and resulted in an uptick in movies featuring extensive use of performance-capture technology.

Plus, if it really had no impact on society and culture, would Disney have spent $500 million on building an Avatar theme park? The movie may not be endlessly re-quoted in memes, but in the general population, it's certainly a movie that's stuck around.
