10 Reasons You’re Wrong About Spider-Man 3

9. There Was An Overarching Narrative

The original Spider-Man trilogy had an incredibly intense overarching story; Harry was determined to avenge his father€™s death by killing Spider-Man, Peter was constantly trying to balance his personal life and his responsibility as Spider-Man and Mary Jane was trying to break into acting. Each of these stories started with the first Spider-Man film and ended in the third. Mary Jane temporarily made it onto Broadway, Peter finally secured his relationship with the love of his life, Harry came to terms with his father€™s death, even making peace with Peter. The film granted closure to these existing points. There was the potential for Dr Curt Connors to become the Lizard in a future film, but many of the main elements that had been introduced in Tobey Maguire€™s first outing as Spider-Man were now finalised. Uncle Ben€™s killer had been defeated and Parker had managed to strike a balance between his personal life and his duties as Spider-Man. Ending the franchise with Spider-Man 3 meant that these beloved characters were given the final send off that they deserved.
