10 Recent Horror Movies That Had No Right To Be This Good
8. 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
Before it came out, it was difficult to know how to feel about this one. 2025's 28 Years Later was good overall, but it had some pretty glaring flaws, never coming close to living up to the 2002 original movie or those god-tier trailers, which suggested a horror masterpiece that didn't ultimately emerge.
The trailers for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple were alright but nothing special, Danny Boyle wasn't directing this time, and it was also set to focus on the gang of Jimmys introduced in 28 Years Later's ill-judged cliff-hanger ending. The Bone Temple didn't look like it'd amount to all that much ,and yet... it was excellent. It was by far the best in this franchise since the original.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is an idiosyncratic, thematically rich, and brilliantly acted exploration of evil, faith, and humanity itself, a trippy thrill ride that's both horrifying and refreshingly hopeful, thus echoing Danny Boyle's original masterpiece in the best kind of way.
This one picks up exactly where the first 28 Years Later left off and retrospectively improves it, now that we know the exciting developments that movie was setting up. Additionally, unlike that previous picture, this absolutely sticks the landing, all building to a gloriously insane crescendo.
Following its fantastic climax, The Bone Temple gifts audiences with a marvellous cliff-hanger ending that gives the people exactly what they want and leaves them hungry for more. 28 Years Later Part 3 can't come soon enough.
