Hype for 28 Years Later was through the stratosphere, considering it's helmed by 28 Days Later director Danny Boyle and was intended to kickstart a new trilogy. Since the previous film, 28 Weeks Later, was released 18 years prior, long-time fans were excited about seeing the Infected unleashing Hell on Earth once again.

As a result, it's jarring how the long-awaited sequel opens with a scene of children watching Teletubbies on television. But as the camera cuts to the kids, it's obvious they're barely focused on the show, as their faces are etched with palpable fear. As a mother bursts in and screams to the kids not to leave under any circumstances, they start to sob, recognising they're in imminent danger.

Their concerns are warranted, since the Infected burst in moments later and tear the children asunder, splattering their blood on the television screen.

Although the opening is not what anyone expected, it packs quite the punch. Having the children watch an innocent TV show during an apocalyptic catastrophe highlights what childhood should be and what it has become.

The Teletubbies might conjure up feelings of comfort and safety, but this facade is destroyed within the first minute.
