7. Wrong Turn

Don't Breathe 2
Saban Films

When Wrong Turn first reached audiences, they were blown away by its innovative gore and genuine scares. In a saturated market of slasher and gore horrors it was able to stand on its own proudly.

But after it churned out five inadequate sequels, it was time the franchise got a do-over. On the surface, the 2021 version of Wrong Turn looked like it got a lot of things right. Instead of retreading the same plot points as its predecessor, this remake delves into the cannibalistic tribe's deep history and mythology, allowing viewers to see them more as human beings rather than mindless monsters.

Unfortunately, this backstory becomes so convoluted, it's hard to follow the film's plot - and yet none of the backstory felt worth knowing in the first place. It also doesn't help that the film doesn't have a single memorable line, kill, or character. Even though most horror flicks suffer from a weak script, this is one of the few times where a straightforward, by-the-numbers plot would've been beneficial.
