10 Recent Horror Movies That Were Sent Out To Die
5. Paranormal Activity: Next Of Kin
When Paranormal Activity was first released, it became the most profitable film ever made, in terms of return on investment. Because of its unprecedented success, it felt like the series had left a firm stamp on the found-footage subgenre forever.
And yet, the most dedicated horror fans didn't notice the seventh instalment, Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, was released last year. But if you watched it, you'll understand why.
The film centres around a young woman called Margot who's investigating why her mother abandoned her as a baby. After learning hidden details about her family tree, Margot heads to a remote house to record her findings. But while filming, she discovers she's being haunted by a spiritual entity.
In its defence, Next of Kin does try something different and it's definitely not the worse in the series. But by adding an unnecessary complex mystery, Next of Kin doesn't feel like the next chapter of the Paranormal Activity saga. Instead, it feels like a random found-footage flick with the title "Paranormal Activity" slapped on for the sake of marketability
Even if you rate yourself a mega-fan of the series, you're not missing anything by skipping this entry entirely.
