10 Recent Horror Movies Which Broke The Fourth Wall To Scare You
3. No One Will Save You
A horror movie without next to no dialogue sounds like a hard sell to some, but in reality this is not a bad idea on a conceptual level and Hulu's late 2023 horror offering proves that the Kaitlyn Dever-starring vehicle is a solid showcase for modern (near) silent filmmaking. In addition to this, it functions well as a compelling alien invasion movie/character study with a reality bending turn at its conclusion.
The plot follows Brynn (Dever), a lonely seamstress who copes with both the loss of her mother and best friend by building a model town in her house, and her isolation due to her fellow townsfolk shunning her. This dreary status quo is immediately once the town is attacked by an alien armada, and Brynn finds herself in the middle of it.
The motion picture ends with the town under the aliens' control, as well as Brynn coming to terms with her friend's passing and associated guilt (which was revealed to be at her hands, however by accident) and the brainwashed townspeople finally accepting her.
Ideally, Brynn should have been forgiven under less disturbing circumstances, but her cheerful smile at the camera as the story closes implies she is not on the same page as everyone else.
