10 Recent Indie Horror Movies To Watch This Halloween
1. Ravenous
This French-language, Quebec-set art-house horror takes an incredibly familiar zombie apocalypse scenario and makes it feel fresh again thanks to its airy rural locale, large cast of characters and darkly comedic tone.
What makes Ravenous truly stand out from the pack, though, is its unique approach to its zombie mythology, making the infected far more than mere undead husks, and creating a more ambiguous and wrenching scenario as a result.
There's the now-requisite social commentary in the package, which while perhaps a little on-the-nose for some, is at least folded into a clever and original depiction of the zombie horde.
With an expertly balanced tone alongside brutal violence, interesting characters and some neat refinements on zombie movie cliches, Ravenous is well worth adding to your Netflix queue.
